The Penisola Salentina is the extreme south oriental part of Italy: the "heel" of the Boot. It is a plain area broken here and there by small stony rounded mountaintops, especially in the southern part, where they are called Serre Salentine.
On the contrary the coasts of the Peninsula are very varied and in many areas they hurl down into the blue Adriatic sea, dotted with picturesque sea caves. The physical appearance of the Salento is very suggestive, despite its uniformity; the climate is the best you can desire to spend vacation times or to travel in spring and autumn.
The Salento, because of its geophysical conformation, is run by a fluent and easy road network. There are no remarkable slopes and the highest elevation is less than 200 meters above sea level. The road network allows to drive long itineraries in short time, thanks also to the presence of numerous routes and derivations connecting the inland to the coast and vice versa
